Jenifer Freebairn
A native Los Angelean, Jenifer Freebairn comes from a long line of composers, musicians, entrepreneurs and oddballs. Although her education focused on music, language and business, her high school and college stints working in restaurants soon evolved into serious apprenticeships in wine as she apprenticed under a series of up-and-coming sommeliers in Los Angeles.
Despite becoming a busy composer/performer working in film and television as well as high-tech marketing, she couldn't shake the restaurant world and the wine education it afforded her. Inspired by the breadth of Paul Hobbs's work and the consistent excitement with which guests responded to his wines, she eventually pursued and landed a position at the winery.
The do-it-yourself work ethic at Paul Hobbs was a perfect fit; she took advantage and promptly immersed herself in everything from harvest work to sales, hospitality, mar10 keting and beyond. Eight years later, she is Director of Sales and Marketing, having enjoyed contributing to the company's evolution through the building of wineries in California and Mendoza, the expansion of Paul Hobbs Imports and the advent of the CrossBarn brand. To her great satisfaction, the independent spirit of the winery she joined remains today.
When not wine-ing, Jen enjoys writing and recording music, traveling, camping, bike riding and farm-to-table cooking. She lives in rural Sebastopol with her husband and cat. Still learning to be a morning person, she considers her career in wine proof positive of her favorite quote: "Not all those who wander are lost." Cheers!
